What is QwikUp Signs?

QwikUp Signs is a comprehensive web application that connects three key stakeholders to maintain clean, compliant communities:

  • Sign Owners - Create campaigns and manage compliance
  • Gig Workers - Earn money cleaning up expired signs
  • Public Users - Report issues and help their community

The Problem It Solves

Expired signs cluttering public spaces is a real issue in many communities. Traditional cleanup methods are inefficient, costly, and often rely on manual coordination. QwikUp Signs automates this process through technology.

Key Innovation Features

GPS Tracking & QR Codes

  • Precise location tracking for all sign activities
  • Unique QR codes for each campaign
  • Real-time monitoring and compliance tracking

Automated Bounty System

  • Gig workers browse available cleanup opportunities
  • Photo verification ensures work completion
  • Automated payments via Stripe Connect

Community Engagement

  • Public users can scan QR codes on expired signs
  • No registration required for reporting
  • Gamified community participation

Technical Architecture

Frontend: Next.js 13+ with TypeScript (94.9% of codebase)
Backend: Supabase with PostgreSQL and Row Level Security
Payments: Stripe Connect for marketplace transactions
Mobile: Progressive Web App with offline capabilities

Security-First Design

As always, my security background influenced key architectural decisions:

  • Row Level Security protecting user data
  • Role-based access control for different user types
  • GPS verification preventing fraud
  • Photo proof requirements ensuring authenticity
  • Encrypted payment processing via Stripe

Why This Matters

This project represents the intersection of:

  • Civic technology solving real community problems
  • Marketplace innovation connecting multiple stakeholders
  • Security expertise applied to public-facing applications
  • Modern development using cutting-edge web technologies

QwikUp Signs demonstrates how technology can transform traditional civic processes, making them more efficient, transparent, and community-driven.
